Pamela Palmer

As an OR nurse, Pamela Palmer has seen all kinds of allografts through the years. Now as a director for an Austin-area surgical center, Pam continues to witness the incredible gift of tissue donation to individuals in desperate need.

Pamela received an allograft in the spring of 2006 following an accidental stumble and fall that severely tore the ACL in her left knee. Pam knows how different her experience would have been without the donated tissue, as she ripped the ACL in her right knee approximately 30 years ago. That ACL damage led to major reconstructive surgery and a very long healing process.

With her left knee, Pam's experience was completely different. Her allograft was a much more minor surgery, with a minute incision and an extremely fast recovery time by comparison. This allowed Pamela to quickly get back to work helping others with their own health and medical needs.

Pamela hopes others will consider the option of tissue donation and then communicate those wishes to their loved ones. She says "any donation is always going to help someone else."
